It is with sadness and gratitude that we say good-bye and thank you to Sheridan Lynch who leaves Southdown this week after 14 years. Sheridan has been Director of the Learning Disability division of Southdown since 2001 and during that time she provided the support, guidance and leadership that has allowed these services to flourish. She has been passionate about her commitment to delivering personalised support to people with learning disabilities when and where they want it. She has been absolutely committed to the values of Southdown and to our mission of ensuring that everyone has the life they choose to live with the right support to achieve this. She has worked outside Southdown through the partnership boards in West Sussex and Brighton and Hove to really embrace the aims of Valuing People Now and has participated in hundreds of events over the last 14 years to promote the rights of people with learning difficulties.
John Robinson, Vice Chair of Southdown and member of the West Sussex partnership board said of Sheridan “She has helped to change the lives of many, many people with learning difficulties in Sussex and I know that her support to families has been immeasurable.”
Tenants, Staff and Board members have held various events throughout the last few weeks to say a fond farewell to Sheridan. Sheridan was especially touched by receiving a book of photographs that every tenant with a learning difficulty in Southdown contributed to.
Aideen Jones, Chief Executive of Southdown said “Sheridan has been an amazing colleague and it has been an absolute joy to share the running of Southdown with such a dedicated colleague. Everyone in Southdown wishes Sheridan a very happy future”.
