Valuing Employment Now: real jobs for people with learning disabilities
The target is that by 2025 there will be a similar percentage of people with learning disabilities in employment (48%) as there are people with disabilities as a whole currently in employment (48%).
Our Ways To Work team are currently working with schools and colleges so that employment is an expectation for all school leavers with learning disabilities. Our aim is that young people with learning disabilities have access to our Employment Consultants and can begin to learn about the world of work whilst still in school or college. That way they self-select what areas they want to explore when it comes to looking for employment. The team are developing this approach as part of the continuum of support they currently offer.
