Client H has a degenerative congenital medical condition, which affects his physical mobility and co-ordination. He has been extremely socially isolated, with sparse contact with his family, and was previously accessing floating support before his referral to Peer2Peer.
Over time, with support from Peer2Peer H has been able to overcome his considerable social anxiety to meet other clients, chat with them and make friends. He has been assisted to get a national free bus pass (due to his physical mobility problems) which has opened up his world and given him the freedom to visit towns across Sussex.
We helped him to sign-up to the ‘Warm Front’ energy efficiency scheme and after an energy audit of his accommodation, he had his flat insulated in order to reduce his energy bills.
We have helped H progress from never having touched a computer before, to now confidently surfing the internet independently. He has become an active member of the Peer2Peer online forum, and has also registered with the My-Guide Government website and successfully completed several online computer courses.
His self-esteem has improved to the point where he has recently visited the dentist and received dental treatment for the first time in years, and after attending our ‘Eating Well on a Budget’ workshop, has greatly improved his diet to eat more healthily, and has lost 4 stone in weight over several months.
