Floating Support
Southdown provides floating support for people who need support to maintain their tenancies. Our floating support services operate in Adur, Eastbourne, Wealden, Brighton, Horsham, Chichester, Worthing and Lewes districts.
What does floating support offer?
- An average of one home visit per week
- Support which helps people move into and stay in accommodation
- Advice on claiming benefits and grants
- Liaison with other support, training or employment agencies
- A support worker who can help a tenant to live more independently.
Who is this for?
Floating support is for people who:
- Have somewhere suitable to live, or are about to move into accommodation
- Need temporary support to establish or maintain their tenancies
- Have support needs due to mental health issues, learning disabilities or other difficulties.
- Are aged 18 and above
The way we work
- Applications can be accepted from individuals or agencies
- Once accepted onto the service, a Floating Support Worker meets with a client to draw up a time-limited support plan
- Support plans are regularly reviewed to ensure clients are getting the service they need
- Once clients have reached their goals and can manage on their own, they leave the floating support scheme
- The average duration of support is six months
