We are a team of service user volunteers from Southdown Housing Association Learning Disability services who have completed training to be Quality Checkers on ‘The Q Team’.
We want to supplement the reviews that already exist within residential services with our own quality checks which aim to look at how service users’ wellbeing can be enhanced.
Our ultimate aim is to continuously improve services for people with Learning Disabilities and we believe that we can bring a different perspective and expertise to current quality reviewing processes. Our hope is that this will be of wider benefit to all service users as good support promotes a good quality of life.
We have developed a ‘Toolkit’ to help us carry out our quality checks and we consult with service users, staff and family members according to the differing needs of each service. We also rely on our own expertise through experience to conduct our assessments and believe that this is a valuable asset of our team.
We are keen to link up with other Quality Checking projects and are available to offer training and further information about our service.
