Supported Employment Service
West Sussex Local Area Agreement Team

This LAA scheme runs from October 2006 to March 2009 and focuses on three employment outcomes for people with long-term conditions or disabilities:

  1. Paid work of more than 16 hours per week
  2. Permitted (part-time paid) work
  3. Voluntary work/work experience/training

Under this scheme, we can support you if you have a physical, sensory or mental health condition. We have other schemes available for people with learning disabilities. You need to be on a health-related benefit and out of work in order to access the scheme.

We will support people in Crawley, Horsham, Mid-Sussex and Worthing initially.

Clients will meet our staff in Job Centres, where possible. This means clients can access the incentives and facilities they offer more easily.

Many clients prefer to present themselves directly to employers after receiving advice and support, but we can do this if required.

We will support your own job-searching and will gather information including benefits advice and source local training and other employment support.

The Local Area Agreement funding is given by the national Government to local authorities, to increase the numbers of people on disability-related benefits who move into employment.

West Sussex County Council have asked us to expand our existing service, as we are already commissioned by them to provide employment support in the county.
