Supported Living

Supported Living means that you have a tenancy in your own  flat or in a shared house where you have your own bathroom and share the kitchen and living areas. Most of our Supported Living schemes have someone there overnight to make sure you are safe.

There will usually be 5 – 7 flats together so you can make friends with your neighbours and share the support of staff as you need it.

If you have an ‘Individual Budget’ you can buy in some of your support from any one you choose and we will help you to do this.

Most of these schemes are set up with the support of the local Housing and Adult Social Care departments, so you need to contact them in your area for a start to have an assessment of your needs.

Personal story

Bill moved into his shared supported living scheme when he left school. He has a high level of support due to his health needs, but this does not stop him participating in lots of activities. Staff support him to do voluntary work, play music, go to college and to learn independent living skills. With his 1 to 1 support, he has a busy and fulfilling life.
