Registered Care

Southdown is registered with the Care Quality Commission to manage nine Care Homes for people with learning disabilities, some of whom have additional complex needs.

Staff are trained to provide care and support to people with personal care, mobility, eating and drinking, and all aspects of communication.  We provide professional support to ensure that posture, moving and handling, transferring to and from a wheelchair, and bathing, are all carefully assessed to provide the best up to date practice.

We also provide services for people who need tube feeding (gastrostomy) and support people with the most complex needs to live an active life in the community.

Current Vacancies

We currently have two vacancies in the Brighton & Hove area catering for severe learning disabilities and physical disabilities. Please contact Chris Storey for details:

Personal story

George is approaching 60 years old. He  came to live in a small group home as he needed more support with his health and mobility and said he could not cope in his flat any more.  He likes a quiet household and is now enjoying sharing with  other residents.

The staff at the home are skilled in working with people with dementia, and have helped George to maintain his skills and keep up with friends when he feels like socialising. He has support to go out when he wants to and is happier and more relaxed as his anxiety has reduced now he feels safe and secure.
