What are the options?

  • Personalised support in 24-hour staffed Supported Living schemes where you can be helped to manage your Individual Budget - or we can do this for you.
  • The schemes all have a manager to make sure everyone’s needs are being met and there is someone sleeping in overnight to make sure you are safe.
  • Support to take up different daytime opportunities including meeting friends, going to college, keeping fit, joining clubs and anything else you choose to do. This can be arranged from your supported living scheme, from your family home, or your own flat or shared house.
  • We can help you to buy in the service from a wide range of other providers as well as Southdown if you prefer.
  • A place in a specialised group home for people with very complex physical and learning disabilities, with expert staff, a wide range of adapted equipment and transport with full wheelchair access.
  • The opportunity to share a house with other people with learning disabilities, having your own room and bathroom but having support to share the cooking and shopping.
  • Any other support you need for 1 hour or 24 hours.

All the support we provide is centred around you as a person.

Staff are trained and skilled in working with people whose needs are related to Autism or Asperger’s syndrome, and with people whose behaviour can challenge the service.

We believe that if we listen to the choices and dreams of the person with a learning disability and their family about where they want to live and the support they need, a genuinely ‘personalised service’ will be the outcome.
